We have stayed at a couple of Best Western Motels in the past. There even were a couple of former Best Westerns that had been converted under the Baymont flag. For the most part they were OK, but in the long run were not that great.

Our stay at the Best Western Plus Ambassador Suites in Venice changed all that.

Initial Impressions

From the first glimpse, the property is much more impressive than the internet pictures might indicate. From the hotel’s facade, to the portico and front lobby – this hotel is first class (at least by our standards).

Ron at the check in was quick and efficient. He even gave us a couple of purified waters to take to our room.

The suite was immaculate.

The Room

We’d asked for a king sized bed and a suite was the only way we could get one (they made us a deal). We were blown away when we opened the door. The room was immaculate. From the polished laminate floors to the accessories, the place was spotless.

The Best Western suite was outfitted for a week’s stay

The suite at the Best Western Plus has everything any traveler might need and more. There is the obligatory dresser with flat screen TV and a nice work station as well.

There is a breakfast area with a fridge, microwave, cupboard, Keurig coffee maker and a sink. They even have a roll of paper towels there for cleanup.

The couch was comfortable and there was an ottoman and a table for work or dining. A great closet space and a small dry bar sits in front of the bathroom. Those facilities also have plenty of space.

“One of the things that impressed me the most was the wall mounted magnifying mirror so I could do my makeup and see the back of my hair.”

Mrs. Funmeister

The Rest of the Property

Downstairs is just as impressive. There is a spacious breakfast area with no fewer than four different stations. The breakfast buffet has everything from a couple different kinds of waffle makers, to eggs, sausage, cereals and fruit. Biscuits and gravy also is an option.

The big Best Western waffles were personalized.

Just off the breakfast area is a second room that may be used for dining. It is a quiet area and there are sitting nooks as well as tables that might be used to play cards. The day we were there, a parent had a cartoon show on the big TV there to keep the youngsters entertained while they ate.

In addition to the sitting room, the Venice Best Western Plus Ambassador Suites features an exercise room, a nice little laundry facility and a great pool. It was bigger than the one at the hotel next door (just sayin’).

The Best Western pool was ringed with seating of all different kinds.

In Conclusion

We were there for two days and we did not have even the first problem. Our keys worked fine each day without having to be re-programmed. Our room was quiet and comfortable. The housekeeping staff spoke perfect English and saw to our every need.

If we had any issues, there were a few minor ones. There were no USB ports (we carry our own) and although there was a nice selection of coffee for me – there was no tea for my wife.

However, those were very small compared to the overall wonderful accommodations at the Best Western Plus Ambassador Suites of Venice. Find more about them here.
